We are based in South Kensington, which is a great spot for London culture; the museums, the parks and the art. When we get the chance, we try to get out to take advantage of the local sights. The Serpentine Pavilion is one of our annual trips; it’s a bit of an architectural play park and a good excuse for a quick picnic to soak it in.

This year’s trip was to see Bjarke Ingels’ structure, entirely made of extruded cuboid shapes. At some angles it feels solid, heavy and mechanical, at others the whole structure looks only like a delicate framework curving out to make a kind of geometric, airy cavern. We’d definitely recommend a visit, it’s one that should be experienced rather than only had about if you can.

Beyond the main installation were 3 further ‘Summer Houses’, using various materials, curved ply, poured concrete and even a leather-clad one, these were a great attraction to kids as much as it was for adults. Great to see architecture being fun for any visitor to the park; no matter how they want to enjoy it.
